Clay starts high school tomorrow.
We went to a restaurant last night at his request. He and his Mom held the following conversation using Clay’s keyboard while waiting for our meal to arrive:
“You start high school on Monday. What do you think of that?”
“Scared.”
“You’ll be in a new school.”
“Kind of fun.”
“It will be different.”
Clay thought for a minute.
“A little nervous.”
“That’s OK. I’m nervous too with big changes like that.”
“OK.”
And so a new school year begins.

Clay, this is the year of big changes, as people are already starting to see your true potential. We will help you let the school know that you want more out of your education. Together, your fans will help show the school – and the world – that you are a smart, funny, sensitive young man.
Love always,
Mom (your No. 1 Fan)

Clay, I have a good friend who types to communicate, just like you do. He’s starting high school this week also and has typed that he is scared. I was a teacher for many years and I was always a little scared too. I do hope you will tell us how things are going as time goes on. Have a great year!
